Privex VPN goes public
Two nodes, six protocols, five platforms. Notes from launch day.
What's live
- Nodes:
ca-01in Toronto, Canada andfr-01in Paris, France. More regions are queued. - Protocols: WireGuard, OpenVPN UDP, OpenVPN TCP, IKEv2/IPsec, Reality (Xray VLESS) and VLESS+WS+TLS over Cloudflare.
- Platforms: iOS, macOS, Android, Windows, and a Chrome browser extension.
- Privacy: No connection logs, no traffic logs. WebRTC leak block and kill switch in the extension. DNS leak protection across all clients.
Why six protocols
Different networks fail in different ways. WireGuard is the fastest and our default — but on aggressive networks (corporate firewalls, hotel Wi-Fi, censored regions), UDP gets dropped or DPI'd. That's where Reality and VLESS+WS+TLS come in: the latter is indistinguishable from normal HTTPS traffic to Cloudflare, which is a hard thing to block without breaking the rest of the internet.
Most of the time you don't think about it — the app picks WireGuard. The other protocols are there for the moments where it doesn't work.
What's next
- More regions: Germany, Netherlands, Singapore and US East are at the top of the list.
- Bring-your-own-billing: Stripe-backed Premium with monthly + annual plans.
- Push notifications for connection state and account events.
- Smart Location v2: per-protocol latency probing instead of static load balancing.
If you want to see a region added, drop us a note at [email protected] — we genuinely use that signal for prioritising the queue.
